Last night I attended Total Nonstop Action’s first house show in Asbury Park, New Jersey. The event took place at the Convention Hall directly on the ocean. Since I live in this area, none of this is new to me, but I was impressed at how far the waterfront of Asbury Park has come along thanks to the redevelopment from the last few years. Anyway…
The show wasn’t too highly attended, but the fans that were present were passionate. The convention Hall can hold a few thousand people and I’d say there were between 400 – 600 people at the show.

* Rhino didn’t move around too well in this match – he needs to hit the gym.
Kurt Angle vs. AJ Styles
Winner: AJ Styles
* Amazing match with Styles performing all of his signature moves. Excellent!
After the show was over, Kurt Angle posed in the ring for pictures with the fans. Also, Curry Man, Earl Hebner, Traci Brooks, Consequences Creed, and Kaz came out to the ringside to give the fans free autographs. You’re not going to get that in WWE, folks. I was very impressed with the show and even though the place wasn’t packed, I hope that TNA strongly considers coming back to Conventional Hall in beautiful Asbury Park!

I’ve always wanted to go to a TNA house show. I hear they’re great because there’s none of the same stupidity you see on the TV shows. They’re doing a PPV about an hour or so away from where I live…I think it’s in the next month or 2. Part of me wants to go, but part of me doesn’t want to pay to get myself there, pay to get in, pay to eat or drink and then ultimately pay to leave angry because of some retarded Vince Russo swerve.
Oh yeah – the show was awesome. My roommates and I are going to the pay-per-view show in Trenton tonight. I’m looking forward to a steel cage main event and another Angle vs. Styles match!
I’d say go to the show – it’s really a great live event.
