Before BlackBerry Messenger, before Facebook and Twitter, before text messaging became mainstream, even before MySpace, the cool way for the post-adolescent crowd to communicate was to log onto AOL Instant Messenger, also known as AIM, a web-based instant messaging client created by America Online in the late 1990&#8242;s. Whether you had multiple or just one screen name, teenagers all around the country could not wait to get home from school so they could get onto their computers and &#8220;IM&#8221; their friends about&#8230;well&#8230;what just happened at school that very day. Similar to the way we can all waste away hours on Facebook, a lot of time was spent by teens messaging their friends using AIM, but why aren&#8217;t we using AIM now in 2011? What drove users away from this highly effective communication medium? Was AIM simply not ready to shift with the times? [...]]]></description>
