Thanks, Dorothy.

One of the aspects I like about this series is that it's not solely focused on the blood and guts of war. The political intrigue between the King and Uhtred is well-written plus the mini-political battles between Uhtred and everyone else adds a nice touch.

Anyway, I like the books - thanks for passing "The Last Kingdom" on to my Mom to give to me!

All of my best,

Joe,

I gave the last kingdon to Pat to give to you, and I'm glad you like it.
I've read the next two -- lords of the north and sword song. ummmmmm
lords of the north was harder to get into. first of all, up there in the north, and as the danish occupation progressed, there were a lot of warlords with conflicting politics, and politics is always a bitch.

in the end i did like lords of the north, but it was, i repeat, a harder read.

sword song? ummmm, here again, cornwell being cornwell, which is to say, excellent. not as intense. i'm thinking that as a series wears on, it is harder to juggle the elements. still very very good tho.

good luck, sorry about your dad. Dorothy
