I no longer go to school at Monmouth University (thank God, one's wallet can only take so much of a pounding), but I do have the privilege of advising a fraternity on campus which allows me to be on campus weekly (sometimes twice a week or more).

There should be a mass student outrage at this event - people should be petitioning the school to increase security given this event (and now you can add in the tragedy at VT). After a certain hour, people can come and go as they please from the university - not good.

And that's not just a commentary on Monmouth - it's like that at most college campuses. Unfortunately, in a world where scumbags like this pervert can get away with getting his jollies off by planting cameras in a locker room, you need increased security. Period.

It should also be noted that a similar situation just took place up at Seton Hall (not sexual in nature as this obviously was, but where a camera was placed in a private residence to record private activity). So yes, this crap is going on all over the place.

It's sad, really.

Don't base the entire university on one student's comment. I attend MU, and most students thought the incident was gross...in other words, they did care, regardless of whether they use the gym or not.
If you no longer attend the school, then you don't hear the day-to-day reactions that current students do. So cut us a break, please.
