Whiteboyz Coming Out on DVD July 3rd!

Posted in Entertainment at 4:36 pm by Joe No Comments »

Just in time to celebrate the red, Whiteboyz and blue!

The honkies meet the homies in White Boyz In The Hood, the outrageous Showtime stand up comedy series available on DVD from Lionsgate. The hilarious first season proves that funny is funny, no matter what your race or skin color. From Richard Pryor to Chris Rock, many black comics developed brilliant material from the dynamic relationship between the black and white cultures in America. White Boyz In The Hood turns that concept on its head, featuring white comedians who have honed their craft at urban clubs across the country. This groundbreaking DVD features 30 top comics, including urban comedy favorites A.G. White (BET’s “Comic View,” HBO’s “Snaps”), Honest John (TV’s “The Jamie Foxx Show,” For Da Love of Money), Red Bone (TV’s “P Diddy’s Bad Boys of Comedy,” The Devils Rejects), and more, whose hysterics will have you seeing colors! The DVD includes all ten episodes from the first season, which aired fall 2006 on Showtime.

White Boyz In The Hood will be available on DVD this July 3rd from Lionsgate Home Entertainment!

Be on the lookout for a review of the first season on this blog in the coming days!

More on Vince McMahon’s Limo Death Hoax

Posted in Entertainment at 10:52 am by Joe No Comments »

Since people have been asking about it, here is some more information on Mr. McMahon’s Limousine Death Hoax:

  • Searches for Vince McMahon shot through the ROOF last week with a 9800% increase! That’s incredible. This goes to show you the huge interest generated by this story
  • There are 2 factions backstage that are warring over what to do with the Mr. McMahon death false death storyline. One of these groups is quite small, but very influential and they would like to see the storyline continue for the next month or so. The other group is made up of just about everyone else in the company who thinks that the false death is in bad taste and should stop immediately. You can guess who is in which group…
  • There are now online pop-up advertisements asking whether or not you believe Mr. McMahon is dead. Sheesh!
  • WWE has admitted to CNBC that this is, in fact, a hoax, though they did so in a roundabout type of way.

It really is amazing the amount of press coverage that World Wrestling Entertainment is garnering from this storyline. It’s funny - about ten years ago the then-WWF was getting big ratings from the likes of Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock. And here we are ten years later and it’s the out-of-ring action that is bringing publicity to the company as opposed to the in-ring action.

It’s sad, really. Well, for what it’s worth, I hope that WWE ends this storyline as soon as possible. It’s tasteless, classless, and it has already tarnished WWE’s image due to their lack of respect for the recently deceased “Sensational” Sherri Martel.

You Think Bush’s Approval Is Low…

Posted in United States Politics at 10:20 am by Joe No Comments »

If you thought President Bush’s approval was low as it hovers in the mid-30’s, then you don’t want to even know about the Nancy Pelosi-controlled Congress and their rating. A recent Gallup poll exposed this do-nothing Congress for what it is by showing a public approval rating of just 14%.

FOURTEEN PERCENT!

I don’t care how much you dislike President Bush or how far to the left you are - you have GOT to be disgusted with that approval rating! The article linked above talks more about the rating, but if I had to opine on why Congress’ rating is so low, I would like straight at the Iraq War and the lack of the Democrats to pull us out of action there.

But you know what? The Democrats did their job on this issue! You see, Americans are brainwashed by the mass media (and to a large degree by the very political extremists who want their votes) to believe that if you elected a new Congress or a new politician, something different will be done.

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!

That is not what public policy “is” in 21st Century America. Sure, I’d like to see the troops come home yesterday and for us to give Iraq to the Iraqis, but it is not the job of the Democratic Congress or the Republican President to make this happen simply because of their election. Anyone with a basic knowledge of Congressional standards can tell you that much.

The Democrats did their job with Iraq and they did it with the stem cell debate. They used their power to push the “people’s” legislative wants and desires. They passed an Iraq bill with a timetable for withdrawal and they passed stem cell funding legislation. Both were vetoed. Folks, that’s the most they can do with their current positions! This isn’t an anarchy where we go bonkers when we don’t get our way!

For the American people to blast the Congress shows that our public’s education on American government is poor at best. I’m not defending the Democratic Congress (and I probably never would), but they certainly don’t deserve the 14% approval rating. Just like President Bush doesn’t deserve his thirty-something rating, either.

The Duke Lacrosse Players Go After Nifong

Posted in College Life, Idiots, Morons, & Fools, United States Politics at 10:09 am by Joe No Comments »

The three young men who were falsely accused and publicly abused by disgraced former District Attorney Mike Nifong have filed criminal complaints against him. Good for these guys! A few comments on the overall situation…

College students all over the country know how their civil liberties are trashed on a near-constant basis because the few “bad apples” in the bunch ruin the image for the greater group. As I’ve said time and time again, as an undergraduate I routinely had police officers just open my front door and walk through my house at all hours of the day from the early morning to the late night. It got to the point where it was near-comical. We went so far as to even call the FBI for their help (our reasoning was - when the police are the ones who are breaking the law, who do you call?).

What Mike Nifong did to these boys is criminal. He attempted to prosecute them while KNOWING they were innocent and that the evidence proved them to be innocent. He ruined their college years, he ruined their immediate post-college years, and he greatly damaged the justice system in his district. He’s disgusting and a fraud and he deserves both jail time and to give these boys a just financial sum. Imagine if you were in the place that these boys were in - imagine that you were Reade Seligmann, Collin Finnerty or Dave Evans.

First, you are falsely accused of rape and while you KNOW you’re innocent, a corrupt system keeps beating you down. Then you have to endure public criticism from the anti-collegiate crowd. Furthermore, you have racist groups threatening to “take care of” your situation if the legal system does not (how are these groups allowed to hold the legal system hostage like that?). Your parents are blowing through millions of dollars to defend you in court because - as we now know in America - you are guilty until you PROVE yourself innocent. Oh, and to top it off - your own SCHOOL convicts you before the justice system by suspending you as soon as you are charged! Another epidemic affecting America’s college campuses are administrators who feel that they are judge, jury, and executioner when it comes to adjudicating off-campus activities. These administrators were not at the event, had second and third had FALSE reports about the event, and still decided to suspend the students.

And this is in America, people!

I hope that Reade, Collin, and Dave take Nifong to the limit. I hope they bankrupt him and send him straight to jail. All these kids did was be college students and you know what? There’s NOTHING wrong with that! And for you idiots out there who are completely against college students being college students, go see a psychiatrist. Yes, students should be respectful when living off-campus. But when they ARE respectful and you don’t hear a peep out of them - STOP trying to look into their homes and their lives and passing judgment on them.

Because you know what? Sometimes the chickens come home to roost - just ask Mike Nifong about it.

No More “Healthy Tax” in New Jersey!

Posted in Money & Finance, The State of New Jersey at 9:47 am by Joe No Comments »

The state legislature passed a budget yesterday that does away with the “healthy tax” that was ridiculously instituted last year in New Jersey. This tax imposed a monthly 7% surcharge on the cost of gym memberships. Some people thought that we should all shut up and be quiet about it because of various theoretical explanations on the need to tax all expenditures equally.

Bullshit on that!

America’s health care system is overburden by people who are unhealthy because of their lifestyles. How can someone sleep at night when they openly and freely choose to tax the method by which people can free themselves from this sedentary lifestyle? Maybe getting into that car crash knocked some sense in Governor Corzine because he was all for this tax last year at this time.

Rolling back this tax is a good thing and I think New Jerseyans will be very happy to have this “healthy tax” finally taken off of the books and put to rest where it belongs.

Now let’s start working on restoring that 6% sales tax… :)

No More Dual Office Holding in New Jersey

Posted in Local Politics, The State of New Jersey at 9:40 am by Joe No Comments »

Finally, the state legislature passed a bill that will ban dual office holders in New Jersey. Though the bill won’t be in effect until February of next year, it is one of the best pieces of legislation that this crazy state has been able to come up with in the last few years.

One of the major fiscal problems in New Jersey revolves around paying salaries to our elected officials. Some of these folks are double and triple dipping into the state’s pocketbook! Enough is enough. Sure, I understand that a few public servants around the state are going to be forced to give up positions where they really are helping people, but it really is for the greater good.

And what’s better is that the newly opened positions will allow other people to become a part of the elective form of government. When you have consolidation of power, it’s a bad thing for everyone.

Doing a Small, SMALL Part…

Posted in Random Entries, Sustainable Living at 10:21 pm by Joe No Comments »

As uber-liberal as this might sound, I’ve decided to do my small, SMALL part in helping preserve the environment for tomorrow’s generation. No, I’m not buying carbon credits and no, I’m not switching to wearing burlap or whatever those eco-crazy people do. I’ve decided to do a much smaller part for now and it’s something that you can do, too.

It seems that all of my creditors and debtors (bills and income) offer paper-free communications, so I’ve decided to switch to that method of receiving my statements. Sure, I’m not saving huge swatches of the rain forests nor am I preventing the global warming or whatever is going on out there, but at least I’m doing some small, small part to make things a little bit better.

They way I see it, if everyone flipped over to e-mail or non-paper communications with their debtors, then that has got to be tons and tons of paper that is saved each year. Sure, I don’t know what the exact numbers are, but it’s got to be something big. I’ve also gone a little bit further out on this limb with respect to the charities that I donate to. I’ve asked them to stop sending me paper solicitations in the mail and to only contact me via my e-mail address. Believe it or not, they’ve all been ready and willing to fix my contact method to e-mail only. It’s refreshing to have someone listen to you!

Also, the Market Street Mission in Morristown, New Jersey even complimented me on my eco-friendly approach towards solicitations. That was nice of them to do.

So there you go. That’s my little part to help save the world I guess. And please, bear in mind that if all of this global warming crap goes away in a few years, I’m totally taking 100% credit for it! :)

President Bush to Veto Stem Cell Bill

Posted in Money & Finance, United States Politics at 12:28 am by Joe No Comments »

President Bush means a lot of things to a lot of people. Some people can’t stand his name, others just think that he isn’t doing the best job he can do. And yet still some people adore him and the ground that he walks on. I once thought that he was a great leader among men for his simple, down-home style. I’ve grown to see him as a stale leader whose style is good for comforting Americans, but not so great for making major decisions that will effect the future of this country.

That being said, President Bush will be vetoing a stem cell bill that would “expand” research in this critical area of medicine. I put expand in parenthesis because the function of this bill is debatable. The Democrats see it as expansion of research because it will allow more federal tax dollars to flow to organizations that will be researching ways to put stem cells to use for today’s needs. The Republicans claim that these organizations may destroy embryos to harvest stem cells, thus destroying new life to save existing life.

Personally, I think that the government should be back-handedly funding this type of stuff. For example, maybe we shouldn’t increase direct aid to these organizations, but we should be making it easier for these groups to raise and use research and development dollars so they can privately fund their own stem cell research. See, this is something that is constantly left out of the stem cell debate. There IS stem cell research going on right now that is privately funded by research organizations. Adding federal funding to their existing bin of money might be redundant.

I do believe, though, that the government should help them expand that bin of money that they are using.

Man Survives Attack by a Bobcat

Dale Rippy, a resident of Wesley Chapel in Florida, was outside of his home taking care of the trash when a wild bobcat approached him. After a few moments of staring at each other, the bobcat jumped on Rippy and attacked him. Rippy knew he had to fight back since he grew up on a farm…so what did he do?

He choked the rotten bastard until it died!

Can you imagine?! Rippy had a wild bobcat attack him and he wrestled with it for a moment before CHOKING the thing to death! Good for this guy!

WWE is a Classless Organization

Posted in Entertainment, Idiots, Morons, & Fools at 10:28 pm by Joe 1 Comment »

On Monday Night RAW we are treated to more of the Vince McMahon limousine explosion angle while we have to wait an hour and twenty minutes for the organization to recognize the passing of “Sensational” Sherri Martel.

Sure, they paired their “In Memory” photograph with the Divas segment on Monday Night RAW, but Sherri didn’t represent what today’s wrestling women represent. She didn’t have fake tits and sub-par talent. She was a class act both inside and outside of the ring - and for WWE to not start their show with an “In Memoriam” for the Sensational one is disgusting.

It’s time like these that I wish Total Nonstop Action was in a better situation so they could be a real competitor to World Wrestling Entertainment. In due time, I guess…

Way to be a classless organization, World Wrestling Entertainment. If I was a shareholder right now, I’d sell my stocks and urge other stockholders to do the same.
