The title of this post is all hype. I know that Vince isn’t dead, stupid. But, this is pretty interesting to me. While I’ve been doing my best to cover The Sopranos and the critically-panned, yet die-hard fan-appreciated ending, World Wrestling Entertainment seemingly tried to provide the “pay off” that The Sopranos did not.
At the end of a completely lame and utterly boring “3 Hour Draft Lottery” on Monday Night RAW last night, Mr. McMahon – the company’s recurring #1 antagonist for the last decade – seemed to have been killed off in a limousine explosion outside of the arena.
Personally, I think this stunt was dumb and McMahon (who is the real-life Chairman of WWE’s Board of Directors) should have just taken himself off of camera, period. However, what strikes me is that while critics are debating whether or not Tony Soprano died (he didn’t…because I said so), there are actual real-life news sources that are reporting Vince McMahon’s death!
Ha ha ha ha ha!!! Suckers! If you slow down the tape of the explosion (and I did this on WWE.com because I forgot to f’ing DVR the show last night), you can see that the second McMahon closes the door, it looks like the video COULD have been instantaneously split to another feed of the limo blowing up. Take a look – see if you can see just the slightest movement.
I might be wrong on that. The likely event was that McMahon was in a fireproof compartment as the limo blew up. In any event, while critics claim that David Chase couldn’t get creative enough to offer a solid ending to The Sopranos, it’s funny to see that Vince McMahon was creative enough to off himself on-screen.

According to the Wilkes-Barre Fire and Police Dept.’s, the stunt was filmed the previous night. They had to obtain the necessary permits to bring in the pyro-stunt crew, a week a head of time. There was nobody in the vehicle. I can’t believe there are actually people that are falling for all this crap. LOL! Too funny!
LOL! I agree.
But you know what? The people who are falling for this are the ones that are paying the wrestlers’ salaries. At least I guess that’s one way to look at it!
Dilemna: Find a new way to make WWE’s rating improve.
Here’s what’s not working:
* Shuffling around the wrestling “entertainers” between RAW, Smackdown and ECW.
* Not renewing contracts of many “talents,” sending them off to never-land.
* Corporate involvement with “ol Vince,” Shane-O-Mack, Linda, and Steph – far too frequently in the ring, the locker-room, or media snipits.
* Letting Vickie come to Smackdown ???? As Manager ???
* The continual “parade” of “top contenders” while shoving other talents out of the limelight.
* Demeaning yesteryear’s talent, with cameos, yetwho get bashed, and made to look ridiculous: i.e. Rhodes, Slaughter, Duggin, and others.
* Keeping NatureBoy in the ring far too long, when he should have retired five years ago.
*Too much “on air mike time”, and less mat action. Some matches timed to less than 3 minutes, before the “next” match.
*Subjecting minors not only at ringside, but on home television, to a parade of scantily clad “divas,” and disgusting in-ring demeanor. Stacy was wise to get out and go into dancing.
*Far too much use of the “middle finger” – on-air cussing, handed out placards of offensive language given to fans, all of which contributes to a “huge loss” of viewers.
The list is endless! Those who sit in the boardroom and conjure up the “storylines” for the wrestling talent to follow, is “off-the-charts” to mainstream thinking, surely isn’t wholesome and interesting.
The dis-service to wrestlers of yesteryear – the very ones who “paved the way” of an entertainment medium that many (if not, most all) could enjoy, has deteriorated into a mass of disgust. Responsible parents wouldn’t think today of allowing their children to watch the current tv editions.
Those who do, well, maybe that’s the “crowd” that “ol Vince” is playing to. The naive, uninformed, gullible sorts, who enjoy getting “worked up” at an event, venting off pent up frustrations of a work-week, dragging along their young with them, allowing them to subscribe to a growing up lifestyle, that its “okay” to talk dirty, oogle pumped up breast augmented women who roll their bodies together on the mat as it if were nothing less than a sex show, and to slap others around as if its the thing to do these days.
When “ol Vince” set up the scene with Edge and Lita for a foray in the sack, replete with a bed on stage, to get naked below the covers, that was among the pinacles of RAW insanity.
The industry has LOST many other talents over the years, through drug-abuse, steroids, alcoholism, permanent injuries, and death. All in the name of “entertainment.” To say nothing of many who got the SHAFT, just because they crossed “ol Vince.” No need to mention all the names, most avid readers and viewers already know who they are.
Some wrestlers come back and “suck up” for the sake of notoriety (I think they call that “TV Exposure”) and obviously for a little paycheck, of sorts. But in case you haven’t noticed, these little “cameos” are very short in duration, and they’re back into oblivion. The two old gals who got down on knees, barked like a dog, was humiliation personified to many viewers. Trading self-esteem for a buck from Vince and his “Kiss my A**” attitude is abundantly apparent.
Kudos to guys like Lance Storm, Warrior, others who today are willing to “tell it like it is,” and distance themselves from the trash on television seen today. Even “ol Percy” is staying away from the scene. Surprisingly though, many would think that HBK (a man of faith?), wouldn’t be a part of today’s entertainment scene, but perhaps the “money is just too good.”
Surely you can’t believe he’s hanging in there just to reunite with Triple H, do you? And oh, btw, “ol Hunter” (married to Steff), has a big say on the weekly plots, and sub-plots. No doubt, now that “ol Vince” will be taking a hiatius from the screen for awhile, Triple H could easily take over the mike more often; (afterall he did do a pretty good impression not long ago in the ring cloning himself as “ol Vince,” although the wig wasn’t that good. But then, perhaps behind the scene, Shane-O may feel he deserves more limelight, rather than his brother-in-law, and who knows, the “real fight” may be one TV viewers will never see – as it will be fought in the board room. With Steff kicking and screaming.
Wondering aloud, with the KING Lawler, isn’t he making enough dough with Vince? Lately he’s been doing some weekend road shows apart from the WWE. With “Taker” about to retire soon, (a real Vince loyalist), who’s been “killed off – how many times now” (?) – one has to wonder if “ol Vince” can really play out the “presumed dead” bit for a few weeks or months, before he suddenly reappears with a “gullible” story about how he survived his limo blast.
That had to be the lamest, most absurb and ridiculous storyline for “ol Vince” – so far. And if he thinks that is going to improve the ratings – it can only be on the belief that he STAYS OFF TV PERMANENTLY! Someone once said that people sometimes “are their own worst nemesis……” The impression he left in the minds of many young people (and faithful followers who believe the reality of it all), cannot even be measured, and how it will impact them for years. Some likely will have serious psychological difficulties in this culpability of deceit – all in the name of ratings.
In the meantime, the stock is languishing, and the ratings continue to plummet. And Forbes won’t even give “ol Vince” credit for being a so-called “billionaire….” But then, why should they?
Maybe he ought to start thinking about the EGO and the OUTHOUSE. And while he’s sitting out there with his IPOD, maybe he’ll wise up and talk to some of yesteryear’s talent (now retired) about how to get back into the game. And clean up his act.
The whole thing is completely bogus. If you go back and look at the limo closely before and after the explosion you’ll notice that it was two different limos. The one before the explosion didn’t have a back window on it, and the one that is shown being sprayed by the firefighters clearly does. If you are going to try this stunt, you should atleast make sure that the limos are the same in every way. It’s unreal how Vince has let the WWE become such crap.
i think this is entertainent that should be rated and have warnings before it plays that it is fake….beavis and butthead had to have warnings and it was a cartoon.
my brother is addicted to this ignorant sport. i think its an abomination to tv….tv is bad enough….
I just don’t like that they are using a man’s fake death as a storyline. It’s stupid. There’s GOT to be something better than this…
