What I like best about Warren Buffett’s huge cash giveaway is that it is sets an example for the rest of America’s (and the world’s) fat cats. Granted, he is giving the bulk of his money away to the Gates Foundation – oddly enough the organization that, before this donation, had the largest amount of money donated to it in history (thanks to Bill and Melinda) – but Warren’s and Bill’s example of selflessness is astounding.
I think that the rest of the world’s rich people should look at Warren Buffett’s example. Take that heap of money that you’re sitting on and when you’re up there in age, make some postive, real world decisions. Realize that your family does not need $44 billion dollars to keep themselves going. Set aside a billion (or two or three) for your family and just give the rest away to charity. Lord knows if I ever have that type of money I wouldn’t horde it. What’s the point in sitting on that type of money?
The alternative is to take all of that money and put it in a trust for your family to spend after you die. I just refuse to believe that your family (or any family) needs $44 billion to survive after you pass away. Bah!
