Anti-Shadow Woods Petition

Some of you may not know the area of New Jersey where my family lives. As a matter of fact, I will say that none of you know that area since it is so remote and most of the families have owned homes their for decades (including my own)! Anyway, there is a completely unnecessary residential development being proposed for a large portion of forest land that sits behind my family’s home.

Folks, I know that I work in community economic development and part of my job is to try to explain why development is good, but this is not good development. Not at all.

Going into an underserved part of the community (read: poor) and helping to decompress years upon years of economic neglect is one thing. Going into pristine, untouched nature and knocking it down to build unneeded, unwanted condos is just destroying what little nature we have left in New Jersey.

So I ask you to please sign the petition (in a nice, respectful way) to fight against this ridiculous abuse of nature. These developers don’t want to help a poor or underserved community get back on its feet. That’s not the type of area they are looking at. They are simply looking to knock down a bunch of trees, level off some pure forests, and build residential homes in an area that is completely unfit to handle more people.

As one of the petitioners noted (and my family knows all too well), the homes in our area don’t even have public water. We still have well water and septic tanks! And these idiots want to put in MORE homes in this area? Please help my hometown community make a stand.
