How much does Bundled Software suck?
July 10th, 2004 | Added to Idiots, Morons, & Fools

As you know, I’ve been reinstalling a lot of programs to my new hard drive. However, as I’ve been installing them, I’ve been getting updated and newer versions. But DAMN! There’s a ton of bundled software that comes with some of these things!

I think the most ridiculous one was that bundling of WeatherBug with the new AOL IM. I mean come on – do you think that the majority of AIM users are thinking to themselves, “You know, I wish I knew what the temperature is outside right now…”? And as for the whole WeatherBug thing – Weather Watcher is a much better program anyway (you can get it on Download.com).

Now if they bundled something like anti-pop-up software with AIM, then I would be all for the two being in one package. But, I guess that’s for another version…

Anyway, that just really aggravated me as I tried to get some of these older programs updated and reinstalled. By the way, be on the lookout for a new Balrog Babblings coming out tomorrow that deals with the loss of my former hard drive and what people should do to get a good feeling of satisfaction.
